Diamond wire sawing is a flexible method of cutting masonry, concrete, granite and other substrates, including steel.
It is particularly useful when extremely thick and/or awkward shapes need cutting.
It is an ideal tool for cutting and removing reinforced concrete, such as bridge sections, jetties, columns or beams.
The Hilti Wire sawing rig is available with either a 3 Phase or Petrol powered hydraulic power pack.
Method
A wire-sawing rig is set up adjacent to the area to be cut.
A diamond beaded wire is then threaded around the structure to be cut.
The two ends of the wire are then joined together so that a continuous loop of wire is formed.
The wire is pulled tight using the wire-sawing rig and then the wire is rotated around the rig and the structure to make the cut.
As the cut is formed the tension on the wire is maintained by pulling the wire through the material.
This method allows large structure’s to be cut where other methods are impractical.
